About Me
Hi there. My name is Nicole Bell, I am a soon-to-be graduate from James Madison University. I study Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication (WRTC) with a minor study in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). Welcome to my online portfolio and developing blog. I have experience working in a variety of fields. For one and a half years, I have worked in Her Campus at JMU. The organization is a national magazine created by women for women and allows university chapters to gain experience in publishing and marketing. I began my journey as a writer, where I produced multiple articles about varying topic like fashion, mental health, movie reviews, etc. I quickly promoted to Senior Editor that required reading all articles and editing them to the Her Campus style guide. I have recently promoted again to Campus Correspondent. I am responsible for all functioning of the chapter, such as publishing articles, managing social media calendars, organizing events, and continuing my article writing. I had the opportunity to work with JBIER Inc. remotely for a five month internship program. I began as a social media marketing intern where I was responsible for community engagement on Tik Tok, Instagram, and Twitter. I took over the email marketing campaigns and produced four emails. I was promoted to Team Lead and oversaw all functions of the social media team. I created social media engagement strategies as well as maintain an accountability system. Through my Team Lead experience, I gained access to the recruitment process and was responsible for the first round of interviewing. This job also included resume review and job posting. Through academic classes, I have had the privilege of working with local entities to produce delieverables that were graded in the classroom. I am working as the social media manager for the blog ShoutOut!JMU, a feminist blog funded by the WGSS department. I am responsible for the promotion for all blog posts through Instagram and Twitter. In an advanced editing course, a small group of students and I edited and refreshed a teaching guide used by the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Center that is used in their conferences. I also worked with a local café, Greens & Grains, to produce a hiring and training guide. I have ample experience in leadership roles as well as working in a team setting. My professional experiences have left me with extensive knowledge in social media marketing, editing, copywriting, recruitment, event planning, publishing, Google Suite, Google Analytics, Microsoft Suite, Wix, WordPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva. I am looking for a work environment that I could benefit with this experience as well as be supported in my priorities: environmental consciousness, workplace equity, and creativity.
